Who needs a Coach?
I view a Coach as a partner, someone invested in me and my outcomes, someone who will cheerlead me along if I need it and wake me up if I am asleep. A Coach holds my accountability and accompanies me on whatever journey I undertake.
In the past few years Coaching has appeared as a new trend. We read articles in the Harvard Review, in Money, in Forbes, virtually everywhere...articles talking about the value of Coaching and who has a Coach - e-Bay's Meg Whitman, for one.
But the concept of partnership and the synergy that it creates goes way back. We have known throughout history that two is better than one, that ideas come alive when rubbed against other ideas. They are refined and made more complete.
People are tending to want and expect more of themselves. They recognize that Coaching can help them take charge of their lives and get to wherever they want to go.
It's so easy to get caught up in daily living that we forget who we are or what we want. Coaches create a safe thinking space for their clients. They use silence, questions and challenges to help clients get back on track and come up with their own solutions.
In Coaching we believe that the client holds all the answers and always have. We simply facilitate the process. The client makes choices for themselves and then they decide what they want to happen rather than looking at why it's not happening. The process is more about no more excuses, time to get out of your own way and see if you can create the life you say you want.
